How to Use Blog Link Building Campaigns - Text Link Building Strategies - Website Promotion - Reciprocal Linking

Text link building strategies are now the most important part of the link building campaigns for internet marketing. While link exchanging still exists it's clear to marketers that the real value is in text links between contextually relevant posts or pages. Nothing makes this easier or more effective than using a blog link to promote sites and improve search engine ranking.

The Missing Blog Link

There's a very good reason why 'link building campaigns' have become so popular. Obtaining backlinks through article sites carries weight because of the quality of those links. Using a 'blog link' between business blogs or websites is one of the best link building strategies because a text link is heavily favored by search engines.

Online home business owners often have older websites that either aren't seo friendly or have a URL that doesn't support the keywords that people would type into search engines to find them. You can even use one blog to support another blog if you're careful.

Because of the requirement by the major search engines that websites be focused with a narrow theme business owners are being advised not to try putting everything they offer into one site.

Multiplying Micro Sites

The disadvantage is that a single business owner may need to own and host several sites. However more often than not the sites all share enough common ground that related terms in posts and pages link with great accuracy to one another.

For instance my friend owns a fitness company. He's also involved in nutritional supplements and does personal training.

It's very easy to develop a blog specifically dedicated to nutrition with posts about what to consume for sports recovery. The term 'sports recovery' can be linked to an article in another blog or a sales page on his main website that speaks specifically about that subject.

SEO Mindset

The search engines are getting better and better at measuring congruency. They look very closely at the 'keyword term' that originates the link, the URL it links to, the Meta tags and description, even the readable text on the page. They do all of this to establish the credibility of the link.

A good link building strategy is to start at the end and work backwards.

1. If I know what I'm going to promote I'll choose the best keyword phrase2. Then I'll choose which blog supports that phrase most comfortably3. I'll use a title with that keyword phrase and create the link from the first sentence (same phrase)

Keeping everything optimized for the online user's experience also optimizes whatever you do to the satisfaction of the major search engines.

Internal Linking

Another part of your link building campaign is to create internal links that show how congruent your site is with itself.

There are a number of Plugins for Wordpress that make this process easier but if you want to build specific 'text links' (hyper links between readable text on both ends) similar to the external links mentioned above, you'll want to hand select those keyword terms.

By all means use a Plugin that automatically shows related posts and pages but the search engines will still count your text links and measure their relativity.

Promoting Others

There used to be a great deal of link exchanging going on and I'm not getting these types of requests anymore. I believe this is largely because the search engines can measure text links more accurately and value them much more highly.

You can promote other business owners provided you can make a cogent argument for why their site is related to yours.

With a little imagination you can drop almost any keyword into a post and create a relative link to the site you want to promote. The hard thing is ensuring it somehow relates to your site. Don't promote someone else at the expense of lessening the value of your links.
