With so many search engines coming online, how does one keep up with them all? In the beginning there was Yahoo, then came Google, MSN, and the list of search engines goes on...
So, here is my list of basic search engines, in a bit I'll add the PPC engines available.
Another list of helpful search engines are in place to search for specific deals on items for purchase such as Amazon.com and ebay.com. These search engines are helpful when you've got a product for sale; not so helpful if you've got content to promote
Pay Per Click search engine listings are as the title indicates, pay per inclusion. If you are using a Pay Per Click search engine listing, you pay each time someone clicks on your advertisement. This can get expensive if you don't shop around for the best deal. If you are working with a limited budget, this type search engine listing most likely isn't for you.
A better alternative is to investigate placement on the basic search engine list and shoot for organic listings. This method costs very little, if anything, and usually yields better results; although it may take longer to get indexed. You need to decide which method is better for your needs, and which is more affordable.
A list of search engines should not be confused with a directory. Directories are similar, but not the same. Usually a directory is a manual listing of web sites, not one that is crawled for information.
